The media is discussing the possible return of foreign brands to Russia. Against this background, the domestic achievements of the last three years look different, leading to huge opportunities for manufacturers after the departure of competitors.
In December last year, two striking design cases were replicated in Russian software. In this article, we will talk about how the Moscow developer Aeroplane used renga to design individual houses and tested the Russian tangl software for visualization of analytics and collision verification.
Aeroplane is engaged in IT development itself and monitors what else is interesting on the market. After the departure of Western brands, the developer began to look for an alternative to foreign BIM products, trying different scenarios.
Two years ago, we decided to test the domestic Renga software on IJS, which is also being tested as a new business line. We took 10 different houses in Pushkino, Moscow region: with an area of 80 to 120 square meters, with pitched and flat roofs, premium and optimum mansions, and one townhouse. The design team created for the pilot project completed all the tasks in the Revit program abroad, repeated them in Renga and tangl control, and explored the possibilities of integration into their business processes. Thus, the case is the result of a two–year experiment, the results of which satisfied everyone.

While working on the pilot project, the Aeroplane staff sent requests and suggestions to the creators of Renga 60 for further development of the program’s functionality. It was important for them to be able to influence product development through mediation of applications.
The participants of the experiment confirmed that Renga is an alternative to Autodesk at IJC facilities. And although it still requires writing regulations, creating templates and libraries, the undoubted advantage is the complete elimination of blocking access to software that Western vendors cannot guarantee. If it is clear to a person who understands IT technologies why Renga is needed, and tangl control is also needed, then, let’s say, it may not be clear to an investor.
Daniil Manotskov, CEO of ks-Development LLC (Rostov-on-Don), agreed to answer the question of why some other third-party programs are needed to check errors and find collisions in the finished house model.
“The functionality that allows for collision checking is based on different algorithms than the information modeling systems themselves,” he commented. – In imported analogues, for example, in Revit, collision checking is also carried out by a separate Navisworks software. Renga has the collision checking functionality implemented on the basis of the Pilot BIM shared data environment.

“The separation of the functionality of information modeling systems and systems that allow for collision verification is due to the different tasks of the tools themselves. Collision checking is a control tool that is mainly used by BIM managers, the chief engineer of the project or the project manager. An ordinary contractor usually does not have the opportunity to independently check for collisions,” Daniil Manotskov clarified.
